Properties:
Dexamethasone is a very powerful active glucocorticoid that exhibits potent anti- inflammatory, anti-shock, and gluconeogenic properties. Mineralocorticoid activity is
minimal with Dexamethasone therapy.

Indications:
DexaBiomed may be used as a short-acting parenteral corticosteroid preparation.

The preparation may be injected by all routes in all domestic species (including Cattle, Horse, Calves and Foals, Sheep and Goats, Dogs and Cats), intravenous
administration being particularly useful in cases where a rapid effect is required (e.g. shock)

Indications include:
• PRIMARY KETOSIS (Acetonaemia)
• ORTHOPAEDIC CONDITIONS: Arthritis, Bursitis, Teno-synovitis, etc.
• SHOCK, STRESS
• ALLERGIC CONDITIONS
• SKIN CONDITIONS: dermatitis, eczema, etc.

Dosage and administration:

Horses and Cattle :
1-1.5 mL per 50 Kg body weight.
Foal, Calves, Sheep and Goats:
2 – 3 ml per animal
Dogs :
0.25 – 1 ml per animal
Cats :
0.25 ml (max.) per animal.
Dose may be repeated at 24 – 48 hour intervals if required.
REMARKS:
Corticosteroids may delay wound healing and the immunosuppressant actions may exacerbate existing infections.

In the presence of bacterial infection, antibacterial drug cover is usually required when steroids are used, in the presence of viral infections; steroids may worsen or hasten the progress of the disease.
▪ Gastrointestinal ulceration has been reported in animals treated with corticosteroids.
▪ Care should be taken when the product is used for the treatment of laminitis in
horses, treatment could worsen the condition.
▪ Corticosteroids are not recommended for use in pregnant animals.
Administration in early pregnancy is known to have caused fetal abnormalities
in laboratory animals. Administration in late pregnancy may cause early
parturition or abortion.
▪ Steroids may cause enlargement of the liver (hepatomegaly) with increased
serum hepatic enzymes.

(This milk should not be fed to bobby Calves.
